THE WORLD'S FIRST SOLAR ELECTRIC PARAMOTOR FLIGHT |
|||||||||
|
Flight Plan & Maps 2000km of Solar-Powered Flight, Crossing 2 Continents Starting from Monte-Carlo on 23 July 2009 and covering an estimated 150km per day, with favourable weather conditions, the expedition should take roughly two weeks to complete. The route from Monaco will initially take the paramotors inland, to avoid the French restricted airspace, over the Provence Alps and then the Midi-Pyrenees. During the summer months these mountain ranges are notorious for creating huge and dramatic thermals, which have been known to drag paragliders rapidly up to altitudes of 10,000ft and more. The final leg of the expedition takes the pilots across the straits of Gibraltar and so, from one continent to another. This will be the world’s first inter-continental crossing by electric paramotor. Route Map
